Health Professions Council (HPC)

Allied Health Professional Registration

If you are a Radiographer, Radiation therapist, Sonographer*, Physiotherapist, Podiatrist, Occupational therapist, Dietitian, Speech Pathologist or Biomedical Scientist, (remove hyperlinks) it is essential for you to be registered with the Health Professions Council (HPC), formerly known as the Council for Professions Supplementary to Medicine.

*Sonographers can work in the UK without HPC registration if they haven’t trained as a radiographer.

Application and accreditation to the HPC is essential and should be an integral aspect of your plans to work in the UK. Follow this link for more information or see below for application forms and costs for accreditation to the Health Professions Council.

The HPC assess and recognise most degrees or equivalent from both Australia and New Zealand. However the process is quite involved and all applicants are recommended to allow for a minimum of 4 months from application to accreditation.

There is a substantial processing fee to become accredited to the HPC. If paying by credit card the fee is charged towards the end of the accreditation process. After your application is approved, you then pay the two year HPC joining fee.
